The Sad Demise Of The Sea You Beach Bar
A few days ago I flew the drone around Potima Bay and took some films and pictures for our website. Literally a few minutes after I published the film, Sea You Beach Bar announced they were closing. Since then there has been talk of bulldozers, so this morning I returned to the scene to assess the situation first-hand.
That Was Then

So this was the picture I took earlier in the week. The Sea You Beach Bar was closed, but that is not unusual at this time of the year.
This Is Now

Today though, you can see some bulldozers have appeared. Also, there has been a lot of land clearance going on between the bar and the villas in the foreground.
Before

Let's focus on that land clearance first of all. A few days ago it looked like somebody had an allotment here. You can see what looks like a shed, and possibly some semi-overgrown vegetables. Unfortunately my little allotment area in our back garden looks fairly similar at the moment.
After

Now, all that has gone. Is the plan to extend the car park, or will something be built here?
I'm getting ahead of myself though. First of all, let's have a look at that (translated) announcement that was posted on the Sea You Beach Bar Facebook Page.
The Announcement

After eleven incredible years filled with unforgettable moments, countless smiles, and endless summer memories, Sea You Beach Bar is closing its doors. Unfortunately, due to a miscommunication with the Municipality of Pegeia, the space has been reassigned to a new operator, bringing our journey here to an end.
From the bottom of our hearts, we want to thank the thousands of visitors from all over the world who honored us with their presence, embraced us with their love, and made Sea You Beach Bar so much more than just a beach bar – it became a meeting place, a sanctuary of joy, and a home away from home. It has been our privilege to host hundreds of weddings, to be part of your most special moments, and to create memories together that will remain forever in our hearts.
A huge thank you to our incredible team, to everyone who worked alongside us over the years. You became family, and your dedication and passion were the heart of our success. None of this would have been possible without you.
As we close this beautiful chapter, we wish the new owner all the best. Though this journey ends here, we move forward with gratitude, carrying thousands of sweet memories in our hearts.
Forever grateful!
