Paphos Harbour Opera 2024
The Opera is coming to Paphos Harbour! Tonight and tomorrow you will be able to hear the strains of Verdi's "La Traviata" as they float across the water from the castle to the restaurant and greater Sea Front area. We popped down to have a look so you will know what to expect if you are lucky enough to have a ticket.
The Stage Is Set

If you've got tickets, Paphos Harbour is the place to be on Friday and Saturday night. The Opera is in town. This is from the official Pafos Tourism Site:
As part of the Pafos Afrodite Festival 2024, Giuseppe Verdi’s Opera “La Traviata”, one of the greatest operas of the classical repertoire, will be presented in the square of the Medieval Castle of Paphos, on September 6 & 7, 2024. The performers of this great show are the Tbilisi State Opera, a group from the Tbilisi State Ballet and the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra. A host of world-renowned artists will accompany the choir, orchestra and ballet company.

If you don't know much about Opera (like me), you will definitely know at least one piece: The Drinking Song.
No Sneaky Peaks

If you are unable to get one of the few remaining tickets, you might be tempted to avail yourself of the seating area to the right of the castle. They have thought of that, and it is cordoned off I am afraid. Given the propensity for people thrusting mobile phones about with gay abandon, I can understand why they have done this. It would be a bit of a distraction.
The Stage

This is the stage itself. There were security guards in abundance so I didn't try and get any closer.
Glam

It's going to look nice in the Hospitality Area to the right of the makeshift theatre. I wonder what this area will be used for. Photographs?

eBookCyprus Road Trip 01: the Kathikas - Panagia Loop
Let me take you on a journey around the region of Paphos, Cyprus. Starting at Paphos itself, we travel to Akoursos, then Kathikas, Kritou Terra and Simou. We continue past Lasa and Kannaviou, before taking in the delights of Panagia. Getting a bit more adventurous, we visit the abandoned villages of Statos and Agios Fotios, before passing through Choulou, Letymbou and Polemi, and rejoining the main Paphos - Polis road.
The route is suitable for all types of vehicle, and requires no off-roading. The guide contains about 130 photographs including shots of all the road signs you need to pay attention to, as well as some of the highlights you may experience along the way.
There are also several maps which will help you keep your bearings.
You can do this journey in a day, or you can break it up into chunks. You can also do it in reverse, to get some completely different views. It is entirely up to you.
