Neon Mall October Update
A couple of days ago we published a film of the Neon Mall in Paphos, showing building work that was taking place there. People were helpful enough to post links to articles explaining what was going on, so we thought we would pass the information along. Here then, is what is happening. In short, more shops and offices, with improved access. For more information, read on...
Neon Mall

While I was flying the drone I also took some overhead shots. These will make up the pictures in the article. In case you didn't know, this is Neon Mall. It is between the Motorway Roundabout and the Stadium Roundabout on the East side of Paphos City.
More To Come

When I published the Neon Mall Film I speculated about what was happening. Somebody was kind enough to supply a link to this article in Cyprus Business News, which has a lot of useful information.
Improved Access

There are two aspects to the work being undertaken here: Improved Access and New Buildings. Looking at access first, they appear to be looking to construct a roundabout at the junction between The Mall and McDonalds. I presume they mean by the new bridge, rather than the existing dual carriageway. This would be very sensible, and mean you no longer had to drive across the bridge and round the roundabout to get in to the Mall. You would also be able to turn right when leaving the Mall, which is currently impossible.
This is how the article phrased it:
Configuration of entrance/exit and creation of a roundabout: This upgrade concerns the configuration of the northern entrance/exit, from the northern bypass road of Yeroskipou, with the creation of a triangular island for safer access for vehicles and pedestrians. At a distance of 50 meters from the entrance, a roundabout will also be constructed to facilitate road traffic.
New Entrance

You will also be able to access the underground carpark from the Dual Carriageway.
The proposed development also includes the construction of a new entrance, west of the proposed development, via Dimokratias Avenue to access the underground car park. An auxiliary lane, 40 meters long, will be built on Demokratias Avenue and then an internal access ramp, 80 meters long, will be built to the underground parking area.
New Floors

It is good that they have thought about improved access, because the area is getting more and more popular and there is a danger of huge bottlenecks in the future if the situation isn't improved.
Anyway, as well as improved access, they are also doing a lot of construction on-site.
